Large Cats Home

Large Cat Sailing

This division caters for all catamarans longer than 4.3 metres. All classes are most welcome. Our fleet includes A Class foiling, Taipan, Nacra 16 Sq, Nacra 5.8 and F18. Come and enjoy our friendly club scene. We have some red hot sailors in our division, including past state and national title holders.

We race every Saturday afternoon at approx 2pm from September to May. We race a handicap series, where all classes of cats are given a fair chance of winning, depending on your boats potential and your skill during each race. Approximately 24 races are held and your best 19 results count. We also race a championship division where 8 races are held and your best 5 results count. Large cats can be raced with 1 or 2 persons on board, but if you want to sail 3 up, you can.

Our rigging area is fully grassed and launching is easy. The lake has plenty of depth for our foiling A Class (majority of lake centre around 3m deep) so don't worry if your cat has deep centreboards.

Safety is a big part of our club, and if you're a beginner our sailors will be pleased to assist you on the finer points of racing.
