Monohull race report 26 Oct 2013

26/10/2013

10 boats fronted the starter for the second heat of the Club Championship. The weather was great with a 10-15 knot SE breeze which shifted East during the race and died a bit. All five Sharpies were in attendance which was great. In addition we had Jason Magee sailing a Spiral with us for the first time - welcome Jason - we hope to see you regularly in the future.

After breaking their mast a couple of weeks ago, Garn didn't make todays race, however we have heard rumours that a new carbon mast will be on the boat soon. Rush had a sick crew so grabbed Nick from the juniors who had a great time. Hopefully the other MGs will be on the water soon.

Most boats got off well at the start with Truck leading up the first work followed by Mainiac, Blur, Blowflies and Pleasure & Pain. Space Monkeys was at the back of the fleet after having to do a 720. Italian Stallions was suffering a little in the lighter breezes relative to the faster boats and were having a close race with Hydro Hooligans and Notluf. Rush was going well competing on the long course - suffering a little downwind compared to the faster classes.

At the finish, Truck won across the line on the long course by about 2 minutes from Space Monkeys, Blur, Mainiac, Pleasure & Pain, Blowflies and Rush. All the Sharpies were sailing fast with only 30 seconds covering 2nd - 4th and 4 minutes from 1st to 5th. On the short course Italian Stallions was first followed by Hydro Hooligans and Notluf.

Overall CC results were 1st Truck, 2nd Space Monkeys and 3rd Blur

PS results were 1st Mainiac, 2nd Pleasure & Pain and 3rd Blowflies
