Sailing Monohulls
The monohull fleet at PKSC has been steadily growing over the last few years. The classes sailed range from Manly Juniors through to faster skiffs such as MG14, International 14 and Lightweight Sharpie. Courses sailed are old Olympic style with triangle and windward/return legs. Starts are on the course from the committee vessel with normal club races finishing off the clubhouse. Slower monohulls sail shorter courses than the faster ones.
Results for the season are based on a yardstick system with the club championship being decided on class based yardstick and the pointscore on a personal yardstick. The Club Championship is typically over 8 heats with 2 drops and the point score is typically over 24 heats with 6 drops
Due to the differences in speed of the boats participating, the class runs three course lengths to cater for all - two for the main fleet and one for Manly Juniors who want to sail the afternoon race with the bigger boats. There is a Club Championship for fleets on the two longer courses - and the Pointscore is over the whole fleet with results being normalised for different course lengths.
Due to the resurgence in the Sharpie class at the club an additional Championship trophy is being offered for the best Sharpie in the Club Championship.
