Small Cat News
9 September, 2010 : Welcome back for the start of a new season to all <4.5m Cat Sailors. I pray all of you had a safe and restful off season and put on kilos like me! Well it’s time to get serious again.
Speaking to Andy last Saturday, I asked him if he got round to doing up his boat this winter like he stated at the end of last season? His response was ‘Kinda, I did cover it up this year’. Well done Andy! But he had an excuse as he was off sailing the Pacific again.
Tony Zahra has had a tough year, having had minor surgery last Friday to remove a benign lump from his rump. No, it wasn’t brain surgery, although he has admitted it will probably improve his sailing. Great, just what we all wanted to hear! All being well we should see Tony back on the water in a few weeks time. Tony, we all wish you a speedy recovery mate because we also know how Amie gets when you keep her off the water too long!
This year we all need to put in a big effort in trying to increase our class numbers. Our club has a proud history of strong numbers in this class and something we wish to continue. We all know that the 14 foot Catamaran is one of the easiest boats to begin sailing as an adult right, so I’m looking to set up a roster within our class to provide a rigged boat and a ready skipper by 11am each Saturday. By providing adult beginners with the opportunity to experience how easy it is to sail a 14 foot cat, and how inexpensive they can be to buy second hand, it will lead to rebuilding the small cat numbers at the club.
Please let me know if you can support this initiative, and I look forward to seeing you all this Saturday.
