TY Delegates Report 31 October 2015

TY Delegates Report 31 October 2015
It may have been windy out on the sailing course, but the real action today was in the canteen where it was the TYs running the show. If nothing else, one thing I have learned about my TY colleagues is that when help is needed they all pull together and pitch in. Like a well oiled machine hamburgers and bacon and egg roles were assembled and distributed to appreciative customers. It was a great team effort and I learnt lots about the hidden talents of my sailing colleagues. Like the barbequing skills of Barry, the hamburger assembly skills of Dave, the lettuce and tomato cutting skills of Digger and the customer service skills of Jim, Richard and Andy. All very impressive indeed in my opinion.  Forgive me if I have forgotten to mention anyone, it was all a blur of tomato and barbeque sauce for me. Maybe we should add a chilly sauce option next time? To date I have not heard of one associated food poisoning event so that’s an additional bonus.
For the other classes the TY canteen duty performance will be a hard act to follow.
Given that most of the other races so far this season have been light, I think today was a windy surprise for the 4 TY starters with Digger, Danny and Brian aboard Grey Fox, Barry Ray, Greg and Phil aboard Momentum, Jim Richard, Dave and Robby aboard Rosstered Off and Andy, Laurie, Wayne and me aboard Frou Frou.  I was a little nervous I must admit.
Many thanks to Tony and Chris Zara, the duty crew today, for setting out a great course and for looking out for us during the race.
I think we must all be getting older because we all sailed conservatively on the day. Only one spinnaker set was noted. Apart from one spectacular knock down experienced by Frou Frou at the last mark before turning to the X mark and home giving Momentum the opportunity to sneak past. Otherwise it appeared an uneventful race. I offer my apologies to my ring in crew members Laurie and Wayne, and regular crew Andy for dumping you in the water so late in the race. I hope it didn’t put you off from sailing with me again.

Anyway here are the results for Championship 3, Pointscore 5

Boat Name   Position   Finishing time CBH (PBH)
Frou Frou        First           82.56 (82.56)
Rosstered Off  Second       83.26 (84.72
Momentum     Third          87.69 (87.65)
Grey Fox          Forth         96.12 (92.36)

The End, Trev
