Now to Saturdays race. It appears Grey Fox has been holding back for most of the season (or maybe it is the addition of extra gun crew member) that saw her lead us from the start only to be passed by Rosstered Off and Momentum on the final finishing leg. They looked poised and comfortable around the course making the rest of the fleet work hard to catch up. Serenity also proved challenge for the faster boats to catch. She experimented with some very tight spinnaker sets that, on occasions, were masterfully pulled off, demonstrating that it is worth taking a few risks some times. It’s a steep learning curve for the new crew aboard Serenity and I do admire Wayne for providing the opportunity, developing new people, and, in the process expanding club membership. The seasoned crew aboard Momentum seem also to be getting the hang of their new rig with a noticeable improvement in upwind speed and pointing ability demonstrated in Saturday’s race.
First across the line in masterful fashion was Rosstered off followed very closely by Momentum and Grey Fox with a gap then to Frou Frou and Serenity.
