TY Delegates Report 14 December 2013
It just goes to show that the weather does not have to be perfect to make for great sailing conditions. The main thing is that you make the effort to get out and enjoy it. Today may have appeared windy, overcast and rainy, but by starting time of the afternoon race it was overcast, not quite as rainy and not quit as windy. The very pleasant 5 to 10 knot south easterly made for ideal sailing conditions. Present at the starting line today were Rosstered Off, with a slimmed down crew (numerically not dimensional) Jim, Richard and Shaun aboard, Grey Fox with Digger and Leo aboard, Bluhart, with Arthur and Frank aboard and Frou Frou with Alen, Ian and me.

The start was closely contested by the 4 TYs with Frou Frou just getting ahead of Rosstered Off forcing her to tack away to the right side of the course. From my experience on days with these sorts of weather conditions, big gains or losses can be made on windward legs. Any approaching rain squall usually means a change in wind direction and picking the right tack can make a dramatic difference to your position overall. Today however the breeze remained very consistent at least for the first half of the race. Rosstered Off lead the way up to the first mark and rounded well ahead of the remainder of the TY fleet. Frou Frou rounded next, then Grey Fox just ahead of Bluhart. I must give credit to the smaller boats that seem to be improving and getting faster every week. We are still getting the hang of our new mainsail and crew configuration.

Rosstered Off continued at a pace and increased her lead to cross the line first followed by Frou Frou, Bluhart and Grey Fox.

Final placings for Championship 4

Placing Boat Name Corrected Time CBH
First Rosstered Off 68.7145
Second Frou Frou 70.0494
Third Grey Fox 75.2000
Forth Bluhart 77.5518

The End Trev
