OK, now some good news. We got a race in this Saturday, from start to finish. The first one in 4 starts. Rosstered Off with Jim, Brad, Dave and Guy aboard and Momentum with Barry, Greg, Ray and John aboard represented the TY fleet as Froufrou’s crew were the duty crew for the day.
Although the wind swung randomy between East and South during the race, I was informed that most of the sailors had a great day on the water.
As far as the TY’s case went there was mixed feelings about the shifty conditions. Rosstered Off had a blinder of a race and cleaned out after the start, By the finish she had accumulating a commanding lead to cross the line in first place.
Momentum on the other hand had the wind gods against her and couldn’t win a trick with the fickle finger of fate scuppering every good tack with a wind change in the wrong direction. I suppose we all have days like that so I hope that Momentums crew recovers for next weeks sailing event.
Which brings me neatly to the next two points. Next weekend is the IYC’s Lord Mayors Cup. A few of us have expressed a commitment to race both days and will be staying in our boats at PKSC Saturday night. I hope you can make the effort to join us. PKSC boats often make up the biggest share of the fleet and I hope that this years Lord mayors cup will be no exception.
The following weekend beginning Friday afternoon 22 November is our big TY sailor run club event of the season, the Kembla Klassic Regatta. As the coordinator of this event I am relying on as many of you as are available to assist me in making this event a good one for all participants.
We will especially need assistance to set up the camping. rigging and club house areas Friday afternoon from about 15:00 hours, sort out starting and other signal flags for the 2 course starters and finishers, run our support boats, help in the canteen during the lunch periods, cook breakfast for competitors on Sunday morning and help tidy up on Sunday at the end of the event. Please come and help it will be greatly appreciated.
